Since when do you shake the back of someone’s hand!🤬🤬

Not defending her BS, but the thumb does press the back of the hand when shaking.

Suzanne's avatar

I understand that but not as much pressure as the full hand handshake.

But strong pressure over a relatively small area from a world leader's thumb while making sure to have a firm handshake could do it, especially if DT is on blood thinners. Plus, have you seen Beloved Leader shake hands? He holds on way to long and shakes all over the place, not just up and down!

As a nurse, it looked like an IV bruise to me. Maybe he’s getting inotropic and diuretic infusions for CHF

Agree. I’m not a medical professional but I've spent enough time in hospitals and have had more than my share of IVs. Looks like IV bruising to me, too.

Rosa Clark's avatar

Yeah, but IV bruises heal-that discoloration is lasting a long time.

That was my first thought too, like a vein blew when he was stuck with an IV. But also, if he has veinous insufficiency and CHF he might be getting blood thinners stronger than Aspirin to prevent or treat a DVT. If so, he could have bruises like this all over him, just from even minor incidental bumps. (I'm a RN wound nurse)

Hello, fellow nurse! You’re definitely not wrong. This is a very significant bruise though and it’s right where am I. Would be placed in the hand. His ankles and hands have swelling that is consistent with CHF. The kind of bruising he’d show with blood thinners, I feel, would be more diffused. I mean he should have them all over that hand, probably the other hand too. (Oncology/neuro here)

Is it Actinic purpura?

Actinic purpura is benign, easy bruising that affects older adults. It’s sometimes called “senile purpura”. This occurs because the skin and the blood vessels become more fragile as we age, making it easier for our skin to bruise from minor trauma. This is different than conditions that cause easy bruising due to bleeding disorders.

At 72 I get AP very easily.

Stop the antiquated western tradition of handshaking and embrace namaste

In other cultures many greet each other with the word “Namaste” – this is joined usually by a slight bow and palms touching in front, sort of like a prayer gesture. 🙏

Namaste means literally “I bow to you”
